When using the search form on
our site and choosing the “Require wheelchair or baby pram
access” option from the Select activity table, you can quickly find
those destinations at which Metsähallitus has built services to assist hikers
with many different needs - families with small children, the elderly, the
disabled and others.
Nature trails have been constructed so that they are accessible by wheelchair
and baby pram. Ramps have been built by stairways.
Some rest spots have toilets for the disabled, as well as spacious fire pits,
wood sheds and cooking shelters which can be used by those with wheelchairs.
Some destinations have boat piers from which it is possible to board boats
with a wheelchair, as well as fishing piers from which it is safe to fish while
sitting in a wheelchair.

To get more information contact one of our visitor centres or other customer
service points. Visitors should begin planning their outdoor excursions at
visitor centres, which are located in national parks or hiking areas. Visitor
centres offer information on the area’s hiking destinations and barrier-free
services at these destinations. Visitor centres and our other customer service
points also have barrier-free access for the most part.
